The Umgeni Hospital is a specialised psychiatric hospital in Howick, KwaZulu Natal.  It is a government facility which provides care for intellectually challenged people with not only mental disabilities but in many cases who are physically disabled as well.  The hospital cares for both children (from 3 years old)and adults with severe to profound mental retardation.
