Howick, KwaZulu Natal, South Africa
We wish to thank you most sincerely for all the generous donations you continuously make to Friends of Umgeni. Daily, we are confronted with the dire needs in our communities, and one often wonders if our small contribution will ever make a difference. Well, we can honestly say, that be it large or small, your donation is greatly appreciated and most definitely needed! The patients of Umgeni Psychiatric Hospital, are almost a forgotten community, when it comes to charity and donations, as other institutions seem to get preference, and that is why our Friends of Umgeni team, are so grateful for your contributions.
Our new committee, which took office in November 2011, is led by our chairman Mr John Tungay, and consists of volunteers, who are determined to improve the lives of the patients. Although during our first few months, we encountered many admin challenges, we have still managed to fund various projects this year, a few of which are listed below:
• FOU purchased a second hand piano, and to our great excitement, on the 24th of June we hosted our first concert for the patients of Umgeni Hospital which was a huge success.
• Memorial Plaques for the past 5 years have been erected in the Garden of Remembrance.
• Most enjoyable Christmas, New Year and Easter functions were held, with eats provided.
• We are currently obtaining quotes to replace the shade clothe outside the wards.
• FOU secured large donations of linen from a Midlands Hotel, and a group of Howick ladies, embraced our cause, and are knitting for our “Winter Warmth” campaign.
We thank you once again for making FOU, your charity of choice. Our tasks are not insurmountable, and we will and can, make a difference with your help. Friends of Umgeni would not be possible without you. God Bless you for your generosity.
Sincerely,
Bev Habermann
